Designing a Guide for Better Conversations

No Labels

How do you make political conversation feel constructive?

You make it easier to start the conversation. For more than a decade, Marine Lane has partnered with No Labels to advance a mission that matters — bridging divides and promoting collaboration in government. How to Talk About Politics continues that work: a friendly, thought-provoking booklet that helps college students practice open, respectful civic dialogue. It’s designed to spark conversation, inspire curiosity, and remind us that common ground is still possible — even around the Thanksgiving table.

A Design for Dialogue

We built a system that turns complex ideas into clear, accessible storytelling. Large-scale typography, expressive layouts, and a modern palette give the piece energy and immediacy — inviting readers to pause, reflect, and connect. Each spread was designed to feel active and human, echoing the spirit of open conversation it encourages.

Visual Language

Illustrated for Understanding

Custom illustrations and infographics balance clarity with warmth, helping to unpack challenging ideas while keeping the tone engaging and inclusive. The result is a piece that feels dynamic, intelligent, and approachable — designed to meet students where they are.

Design System

Built to Inspire Action

The system was crafted to expand naturally across complementary materials — merch, posters, event graphics, and print pieces — maintaining visual continuity whenever this message needs to be shared.
